The Programs Director at Mylan Park Aquatics & Track Center plays a key role in planning, organizing, and executing a diverse array of recreational and competitive programs that serve the local community. This position oversees day-to-day program operations across the Aquatics and Track Centers, coordinates with internal teams and external partners, and ensures high-quality experiences for participants of all ages and abilities.

The Programs Director reports directly to the General Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop, schedule, and supervise a wide range of programs including fitness classes, swim lessons, track & field activities, camps, community wellness initiatives, and special events.
  • Collaborate with marketing and outreach teams to promote programs and boost participation.
  • Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate part-time program staff, coaches, and instructors.
  • Monitor and assess program effectiveness through feedback, attendance, and performance metrics; make data-informed adjustments.
  • Serve as a liaison to community groups, athletic organizations, schools, and event partners.
  • Coordinate program logistics including facility scheduling, equipment setup, participant registration, and staffing.
  • Ensure all activities comply with organizational policies, safety protocols, and health regulations.
  • Assist in budget development and tracking for programs and special events.
  • Support major events such as swim meets, track competitions, and seasonal festivals.
  • Maintain accurate records of program attendance, staff certifications, and incident reports.
Qualifications
  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Sports Management, Education, or a related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in recreation programming or sports facility operations.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience with staff supervision and team coordination.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working with recreational software or registration systems.
  • CPR/AED and First Aid certification required (or willingness to obtain within 30 days of hire).
  • Knowledge of aquatics or track & field operations is a plus.
Physical Demands
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Must be able to move throughout the facilities, including pool decks, fields, and classrooms.
  • Some evening and weekend availability required for programs and events.
Work Environment
  • Dynamic indoor/outdoor recreational environment with variable noise levels and activity intensity.
  • Fast-paced setting with frequent interactions with the public, athletes, and team members.
