Astute Recruitment are working exclusively with a well-established and highly reputable business in Derby to recruit an Accounts Assistant on a permanent basis.
This is a varied role supporting the wider accounting function and would suit someone with solid transactional finance experience who enjoys working as part of a close-knit team. The successful candidate will have exposure to a broad range of accounting duties, including Purchase Ledger, subcontractor accounts, payroll support, CIS and reconciliations.
A background within the construction sector would be highly advantageous due to the nature of the role and the exposure to subcontractor and CIS processes.
The Role Will Involve:- Inputting and processing purchase ledger invoices
- Setting up subcontractor orders and processing subcontractor payments
- Preparing subcontractor and purchase ledger payment runs
- Supporting weekly timesheet calculations and payroll
- Completing CIS returns
- Petty cash analysis
- Balancing purchase ledger, subcontractor, cost and nominal ledgers
- Completing bank reconciliations and journals
- Preparing payment due reports and cashflow forecasts as required
- Filing, archiving and maintaining accurate financial records
- Handling finance queries via phone and email
- Supporting the wider finance team with ad hoc duties
- Previous experience in an Accounts Assistant or similar transactional finance role
- Good purchase ledger and general accounting experience
- Construction sector experience would be highly advantageous
- Experience with CIS and subcontractor accounts would be beneficial
- Payroll and timesheet experience would be advantageous
- Strong attention to detail and good organisational skills
- Confident communicator with a professional approach
- Able to work independently while contributing positively to a wider team
- Proactive attitude and willingness to support across the finance function
Hours:
- Salary:
Up to 31,000 depending on experience - Permanent position based in Derby
- 21 days holiday plus bank holidays
- Christmas shutdown, with these days provided in addition to annual leave entitlement
