1:1 SEMH Teaching Assistant – Maternity Cover

Morpeth | Monday–Friday | 9:00am–3:00pm

We are recruiting on behalf of a specialist SEMH school in Morpeth for a committed and resilient 1:1 SEMH Teaching Assistant to join their team on a maternity cover basis. This is a rewarding opportunity to provide dedicated 1:1 support to a pupil with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, helping them engage positively with learning and school life.

• Providing 1:1 support to a pupil with SEMH needs
• Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies
• Encouraging engagement with learning and social development
• Building a consistent and trusting relationship with the pupil
• Working closely with teaching and pastoral staff to meet individual needs

• Experience working with children or young people with SEMH, SEND, or behavioural needs
• A calm, patient and resilient approach
• Strong communication and relationship‑building skills
• A genuine passion for supporting young people to succeed
• Relevant childcare, support work or education experience (desirable but not essential)

• Monday to Friday working pattern (9am–3pm)
