Milk Education is working in partnership with a warm and welcoming primary school with a nursery provision in Morpeth to appoint an Early Years Assistant to join their dedicated team. This role focuses on supporting pre-school and Reception learners to develop confidence, curiosity, and a love of learning.
Responsibilities- Support the delivery of engaging, play-based learning activities in line with the EYFS framework
- Provide 1:1 and small-group support to develop early literacy, numeracy, and communication skills
- Assist with phonics, early reading, and language development
- Help create an inviting and stimulating indoor and outdoor learning environment
- Support children’s social, emotional, and behavioural development
- Encourage independence, curiosity, and positive learning behaviours
- Assist with daily routines, including transitions, snack times, and personal care where required
- Build positive relationships with children to support engagement and progress
- Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and parents
- Contribute to observations and support assessment of pupil progress
- Support safeguarding procedures and maintain a safe learning environment
- Experience working with young children (school, nursery, childcare, or similar)
- A genuine passion for supporting early childhood development
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- A patient, nurturing, and proactive approach
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
- Must live locally to Morpeth (rural location)
- A relevant Early Years qualification (preferred but not essential)
