We are seeking a highly motivated and ambitious registered Building Control Surveyor to join our dynamic and successful Building Control Team.
Responsibilities- Undertake plan assessments, site inspections, and enforcement work across a wide range of projects, from small domestic schemes to large, complex commercial developments (subject to your registration class).
- Respond to and manage issues relating to dangerous structures, unauthorised works and demolition activities.
- Participate in the Council’s out-of-hours emergency call-out service.
- Be part of an ambitious team at an exciting time of change.
- Make a real impact in ensuring safety and compliance across diverse projects.
- Only those with RBI Class 2 registration or pending registration with the Building Safety Regulator will be considered.
- Are working towards Chartered Members, Members of the Chartered Association of Building Engineers (CABE) or an equivalent professional body (e.g., RICS).
- Have experience in Building Control, with a strong understanding of Building Regulations, Approved Documents, allied legislation, and enforcement procedures.
- Are confident in dealing with dangerous structures and implementing enforcement action when required.
- Possess excellent communication, interpersonal, and IT skills, and can work independently and as part of a team.
- Hold a full, valid driving licence and have access to a suitable vehicle for business use (or can demonstrate the ability to travel efficiently).
- 26 days annual leave plus public/bank holidays, rising to 31 days after 5 years of service (pro rata for part‑time employees)
- Automatic enrolment into the Local Government Pension Scheme
- Flexi scheme (if applicable) – up to 2 days flexible leave available per month (pro rata for part‑time employees)
