We are looking for professionals who share this vision to join our Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) and wider Adult Safeguarding Team, including organisational safeguarding.
This is a permanent, full-time role (37 hours per week) based at County Hall, Morpeth, with hybrid working. Due to the nature of the role, you will be expected to work in the office for a minimum of 3 days. Salary starts at £39,862 rising to £44,075 (dependent on experience).

As a Social Worker within the safeguarding team, you will work with Safeguarding Managers and Team Managers, and collaborate with partner agencies to safeguard adults at risk in Northumberland. You will work closely with Northumbria Police, Children’s Services, Health, CNTW and other partner agencies.
Responsibilities- Carry out triage of new safeguarding referrals within a 24-hour timescale.
- Assess and analyse risk and strengths; implement safety planning.
- Liaise with clients via telephone and conduct home visits.
- Work within a multi-agency safeguarding hub alongside key partners (e.g., Police, Health, Housing).
- Access support via Safeguarding Managers/Team Managers where appropriate.
- Undertake or support Section 42 enquiries where required.
- Work with adults and their networks to develop person-centred safeguarding plans.
- Ensure practice aligns with Making Safeguarding Personal.
- Maintain accurate, high-quality recording and documentation.
- Complete brief assessments of work completed.
- Conduct unannounced visits to organisations where safeguarding concerns have been raised.
- Identify immediate risk of harm and raise this with your line manager.
- Meet tight timescales within Triage and MASH.
- Support with organisational safeguarding as required.
- Degree in Social Work and registered with Social Work England.
- Successfully completed the UK Skills for Care ASYE programme.
- Valid UK driving licence and ability to use a car for work purposes (car owner or access to a vehicle).
