We are seeking an Operations & Maintenance Technician with a primary focus on mechanical maintenance. Candidates with multi‑craft skills are strongly preferred. Depending on experience, you may start in a single‑skill role or move directly into a multi‑skilled position.
About the FacilityThe CPV Three Rivers Energy Center is a highly efficient 1,250 MW natural gas combined‑cycle plant featuring two 1x1 single‑shaft configurations with GE 7HA.02 gas turbines and GE A650 steam turbines, supported by air‑cooled condensers.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair plant equipment, including mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and control systems.
- Perform predictive, preventive, and corrective maintenance on all plant systems.
- Support scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, outages, and major overhauls.
- Respond to plant upsets and emergencies to ensure 24/7 operational reliability.
- Conduct root‑cause analysis (RCA) of mechanical failures and recommend corrective actions.
- Maintain spare parts inventory and assist with inventory control for reliability.
- Collect and record operational and instrumentation data for maintenance decisions.
- Update and maintain technical documentation, prints, diagrams, and maintenance records.
- Complete required training and qualification programs.
- High school diploma or GED required; technical training preferred.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in power plant operations or maintenance (or similar heavy industry).
- Experience with steam turbine and/or combustion turbine power generation preferred.
- Familiarity with predictive and preventive maintenance programs and technical standards.
- Ability to read ISO drawings and P&IDs.
- Ability to identify and troubleshoot mechanical issues using inspections and testing.
- Skilled in precision measuring tools (micrometers, dial indicators, laser alignment).
- Proficient in laser alignment of high‑speed pumps, motors, compressors, and fans.
- Ability to repair auxiliary equipment: air compressors, dryers, pumps, piping, heat exchangers, lube oil systems, gearboxes.
- Knowledge of control valves, block valves, and manual isolation valves.
- Strong analytical mindset with a questioning attitude for sustainable solutions.
- Computer proficiency (Microsoft Office, CMMS systems).
- Team‑oriented with strong communication skills and willingness to take ownership.
- Experienced in maintaining detailed maintenance records and work orders in CMMS.
- Exposure to outdoor environments, extreme weather, high noise, and hazardous areas.
- Frequent use of PPE (hard hats, safety glasses, respirators, ear protection, chemical suits, hot gloves, high‑voltage gear).
- Working near high‑voltage equipment and operating heavy machinery under strict safety protocols.
- Entry into confined spaces and noisy environments.
- Physical tasks: walking, standing, climbing ladders/stairs, crawling, stooping, operating valves, and lifting/carrying up to 50 lbs.
- Exposure to extreme heat and cold.
- Manual dexterity for operating switches and controls.
- Visual acuity: close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
- Post‑offer physical exam, drug screening, and ongoing random testing.
- Compliance with strict no‑smoking policies.
Applicants must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain a clean driving record, as this position requires occasional travel for company business. Candidates should be comfortable operating a vehicle as part of their job responsibilities and must meet any applicable company and insurance requirements.
