Reports to: Food Service Director

Job Description: Morris School District #54 is seeking dedicated and reliable individuals to join our team as Substitute Food Service Worker. In this vital role, you'll help ensure our students receive nutritious, high‑quality meals by filling in for permanent staff members on an as‑needed basis. If you enjoy a fast‑paced environment and contributing to the well‑being of students, we encourage you to apply.

Qualifications
  • Prior experience in food service, restaurant, or kitchen environment is preferred, but not required. We'll train motivated candidates!
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Ability to work effectively with students and staff
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Dependable, punctual, and able to follow directions
  • Previous food service or cashier experience is helpful but not required
  • Ability to lift 35 pounds
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Must be able to successfully complete a background check and meet all state and district requirements for school personnel.
Duties
  • Overall cleaning of kitchen including, but not limited to mopping, sweeping, and dishes
  • Meal Preparation:
    Assisting with the preparation, cooking, and assembly of student meals (breakfast and lunch)
  • Serving:
    Serving meals to students and staff in a friendly and efficient manner.
  • Operating point‑of‑sale (POS) systems and accurately handling meal accounts.
  • Cleaning & Sanitation:
    Washing dishes, utensils, pots, and pans; cleaning kitchen equipment, counters, and serving areas; and ensuring all work areas comply with health and sanitation standards.
  • Stocking:
    Receiving, dating, and storing food and supplies properly.
  • Count milk before service and after service daily
  • Ensure serving lines are kept clean and presentable between lunch periods
  • Breakdown and clean serving lines at the end of each day
  • Perform other duties as directed by the Food Service Director and/or Administration
