Responsibilities

NV5 is seeking a creative and motivated individual to join our multi-disciplinary Planning department at our office in Parsippany, NJ. This Supervising Planner position offers an opportunity to lead and manage projects related to Complete Streets, Vision Zero, transit access, greenways, streetscapes, park design, and community placemaking for municipalities, regional organizations, and state agencies throughout the northeast. Our team is passionate about planning and designing systems and places that encourage healthy lifestyles and community vitality.

Our focus on safety, walking, bicycling, transit, trails, greenways, and parks is an integral part of our overall corporate planning, landscape architecture, and engineering practice.

  • Lead and manage project quality, financial, and schedule on projects associated with multimodal, active transportation, and transit-friendly planning, transportation and safety studies, greenway plans, community engagement, visioning, and concept design plans.
  • Leverage relationships with NJ Agencies to identify and track new opportunities.
  • Develop competitive proposal responses.
  • Provide QA/QC, oversight and mentoring for department staff.
  • Collaborate across in-house disciplines (engineering, environmental, urban design, landscape architecture) and regional offices in New York and Pennsylvania.
  • GIS mapping and analysis.
  • Active Transportation/Bicycle/Pedestrian Master Plans, and route and facility planning.
  • Vision Zero Plans, crash/safety assessments and road safety audits.
  • Production of project deliverables (data collection, writing, editing, research, graphic development).
  • Conceptual design, graphics, and renderings.
  • Public outreach (participation in virtual and in-person meetings, development of outreach materials such as input boards and surveys).
  • Attendance for in-office activities, public outreach events, and field trips as needed.
Qualifications
  • 12+ years of experience in a consulting firm or public agency, with leadership experience.
  • Completion of a master’s graduate degree in planning, landscape architecture, engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong working knowledge of NJ Agency Methodologies.
  • Existing working relationships with NJ Agencies senior staff and management.
  • Effective proposal writing skills.
  • Effective staff development skills.
  • Proven ability to win work with NJ Agencies including NJDOT, NJ Transit and NJTPA.
  • AICP and NJ Professional Planner license.
  • Strong communications skills, excellent writing and graphics capabilities.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop), Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), ArcGIS, AutoCAD, or other industry software.
  • Collaborative spirit.
  • Ability to succeed in a hybrid work environment (combination of remote, in-office, and in-the-field work).
  • Second language skills a plus.
  • Ability to participate in fieldwork, and in-person project meetings within the region.
