Wireless Telecommunications Project Lead
Location:
Baton Rouge, LA (on-site). This position is open to candidates across the United States; ideally, selected candidates will be near a Jacobs U.S. based office.
$ – $ per year.
Responsibilities- Preliminary assessments of project scope and requirements.
- Concept creation and development of wireless system designs.
- Lead design efforts with support from peers, SMEs, and BIM designers.
- Resolve internal and external issues related to design and execution.
- Produce drawings and specifications for wireless systems.
- Maintain customer and vendor accessibility throughout the project life cycle.
- Design and provide technical leadership for systems in data center buildings, including Commercial DAS, Public Safety DAS, LMR, Site Radio, RoIP, Wi‑Fi, and tower studies.
- Model wireless systems in iBwave and EDX.
- Coordinate with BIM designers to create drawing packages.
- Coordinate with AHJs, radio system owners, and carriers.
- Create or modify Division 27 specifications.
- Conduct site visits and review technical documents.
- Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Technical or associate’s degree from an accredited institution.
- Minimum 5 years of experience actively designing wireless telecommunications systems (LMR 2‑way radio, Site Radio, RoIP, Public Safety DAS, Commercial DAS, including OTA DAS, Neutral Host DAS, DRAN DAS).
- Minimum 5 years’ experience with iBwave, EDX, Atoll, LMR Planner, or equivalent modeling programs.
- Experience working with clients to identify wireless communication needs.
- Experience troubleshooting wireless communication system issues from field teams.
- Knowledge of Noise Floor, SNIR, Return Loss, and VSWR.
- Experience optimizing networks in design and during installation.
- Thorough knowledge of NFPA 72, NFPA 1221, NFPA 1225, IFC §510, Carrier KPIs, IBC, FCC Part 20, Part 90, OET Bulletin 65, MOTOTRBO systems, Motorola R56 installation standards, DMR Tier III.
- Familiarity with Navisworks.
- Strong project management skills and ability to coordinate with multiple disciplines.
- Experience responding to RFPs, creating project budgets, maintaining project schedules, and mitigating risk.
- iBwave Level 2 Certification required.
- Experience designing Wi‑Fi systems.
- EDX or Motorola design certifications.
- FCC GROL certification.
- NICET design certification.
- Multiple OEM product certifications.
- Electrical engineering or communication engineering degree.
- EIT or PE license.
