Universal Banker I - Full Time - Morristown, NJ

Summary: As a Universal Banker you will provide a full range of banking services to retail customers, including both transactional and non‑transactional processes. You will offer customers more personal banking options while still providing traditional services and assist in reaching all branch goals.

• Process all banking transactions including deposits, withdrawals, transfers, cashing checks, money orders, selling money orders, gift and bank checks, processing loan payments and safe deposit box rentals. All banking transactions are processed through Columbia Bank’s online terminals.
• Open new deposit and checking accounts of all kinds and explain these products to customers as required. Handle deceased accounts. Assist with maintenance of files and any documentation of daily platform work required. Assist customers with safe deposit boxes, answer inquiries, or provide explanations of all products and services, including renegotiation of CDs.
• Discuss personal financial needs with customers and make recommendations on how the bank can meet those needs. Cross‑sell bank products and services. Interact with other bank departments as required. Serve customers, in person or via telephone, to answer inquiries, research and resolve customer problems or complaints, and ensure customer satisfaction. Explain the features and benefits of online banking and how it works.
• Prepare daily proof sheet at close of business each day. Help with end‑of‑day closing procedures for the branch, which includes, but is not limited to, preparation of branch consolidation sheet and document imaging of required branch work.
• Maintain accurate customer and account records. Maintain and update safe deposit box records, back‑office work and ordering checks and maintain branch files.
• Make referrals to the Wealth Management area of the bank, First Jersey Title, Mortgage Origination and other departments of the bank as appropriate.
• Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.

• High school diploma required or a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, or Finance preferred.
• 1‑2 years of retail or customer service experience required.
• Interpersonal, time‑management, organizational and PC skills a must.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
• Ability to work weekends as needed or scheduled.
• Ability to lift up to 20 lbs.
• Candidates must attend mandatory training; continued employment is contingent upon passing training classes.

We provide you the training to help you excel in your position. Universal Banker positions require either part‑time or full‑time training for 10 business days. Training schedules are based on availability.

Monday to Friday: 8:30 a.m. until closing, working 40 hours, must be able to work alternating Saturdays: 8:30 a.m. until closing based on business needs.
