Oncology Data Specialist – Atlantic Health System

Location: Morristown, NJ (Hybrid, 7am‑4pm)

Job Summary: The Oncology Data Specialist analyzes, abstracts, and codes demographic, patient, and cancer‑related information, treatment, and staging from multiple databases for all eligible cancer cases seen or diagnosed at Atlantic Health System (AHS). The Specialist ensures compliance with national standards (American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer, SEER, AJCC, NJ State Cancer Registry) and supports quality improvement, administrative planning, and marketing activities.

• Abstract and code demographic, patient, and cancer-related data, including treatment and staging, for all eligible cases at AHS.
• Comply with and apply guidelines of national standard setters (ACS, SEER, AJCC, NJ State Cancer Registry).
• Perform lifetime follow‑up to provide incidence, treatment, and outcome data to appropriate databases.
• Assist with quality control, information requests, and quality improvement studies as required.
• Maintain abstracting productivity and quality rates in line with organizational and national benchmarks.

• Required: Current/valid Oncology Data Specialist credential in good standing with the National Cancer Registrars Association.
• Preferred: Associate’s, bachelor’s, or related degree in Cancer Registry Management, Medical Science, or similar field.
• One year of experience in cancer registry work.
• Experience in a customer‑service environment or related area.
