Sterile Processing Technician Evenings - Morristown

Job Description

Responsible for the sterilization and cleaning of medical equipment, instruments, and supplies. Oversees retrieving contaminated supplies and delivering sterile supplies, maintaining inventory, and preparing sterile instrument trays for surgeries, examinations, and procedures. Tests and reports any issues or problems with the sterilization equipment. Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.

Knowledge of case cart preparation system, surgical instruments, and the different methods of sterilization (Steam, HLD, hydrogen), basic computer knowledge with an instrument tracking system. Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time, heavy lifting of surgical sets, pulling and pushing of sterilization transport carts and case carts. The technician must perform tasks quickly and efficiently, paying close attention to details and understanding the principals involved in each task performed.

The technician also performs a variety of duties to maintain infection control standards for the health and safety of hospital patients, medical staff, and personnel.

• Education/Experience
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
• Completion of a Sterile Processing program preferred.
• Certified Central Service Technician required (CBSPD or HSPA (IAHCSMM) certification).
• Prior experience preferred.
