Radiation Therapist – Per Diem (Morristown Medical Center)

Atlantic Health System is recruiting a Radiation Therapist for its Morristown Medical Center. The role is a per diem position that supports the radiation oncology department by delivering high‑quality patient care.

Base pay range $48.00/hr – $84.50/hr

Job Description

Responsible for performing radiation‑therapy treatments as prescribed by a radiologist in accordance with established practices and standards. Work closely with patients and provide support throughout the process by determining their needs, answering questions, and delivering the best possible medical care.

Principal Accountabilities

• Checks prescription, diagnosis, patient chart, and identification.
• Liaises with physicist and supportive care personnel.
• Prepares equipment, such as immobilization, treatment, and protection devices, and positions patient according to prescription.
• Enters data into computer and sets controls to operate, adjust equipment, and regulate dosage.
• Observes and reassures patient during treatment and reports unusual reactions to physician.
• Accurately documents treatment in the department EMR and correctly charges captures the correct codes for billing.
• Maintains records, reports, and files as required.
• Follows principles of radiation protection for patient, self, and others.
• May assist in dosimetry procedures and tumor localization.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Radiation Therapy program.
• Active NJ Radiation Therapy license.
• Varian machine experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Word and Excel.
• Proficient in using Varian True Beam, Align RT and Aria.
• SBRT and SRS experience a plus.
