Job Overview
Claims Manager – Construction Defect responsible for leading a team handling high exposure Primary and Excess Construction Defect claims at AXA XL.
Locations:
Los Angeles, CA | Hartford, CT | Exton, PA | New York, NY | Morristown, NJ | USA.
- Oversee colleagues and claim processes related to liability, damages, coverage, exposure evaluation, reserving and resolution of claims in accordance with AXA XL’s Global Claims Handling Principles.
- Conduct and coordinate timely audits of third‑party administrators (TPAs) and insureds claim files.
- Manage audits and ensure Financial Internal Controls (FIC) compliance across the team; drive analytics and data development for Underwriting and Actuarial through reporting on casualty claim trends.
- Collaborate with Underwriting teams on claim issues and trends, lessons learned, policy language review and marketing and business development activities.
- Provide superior customer service to policyholders and brokers ensuring high standards are upheld by all team members.
- Partner with internal and external counsel to manage litigation in an effective and cost‑efficient manner.
- Identify strategic and tactical needs solved through technology, process improvements, or training; maintain close supervision of vendor management and expense control within the unit.
- Focus on each team member’s performance, development and success.
- Strong technical background in Construction Defect claims: advanced experience with handling and supervising claims; proven ability to negotiate and settle large and complex claim files.
- Proven leadership skills: demonstrated experience managing claims handlers; ability to develop employee talent, manage performance and maintain engagement.
- Strong analytical skills and sound judgment; takes initiative and works independently.
- Dedication to customer service, professionalism and diplomacy in broker and insured relations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, collaboration, presentation and influencing skills; effective at stakeholder communication at all levels.
- Ethical approach with impeccable reputation for ethics, integrity and professionalism.
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree required.

U.S. base salary range: USD 144,500 – 227,500.
