Assistant Nurse Manager, Full Time, Evenings 3p-11p, Operating Room, Morristown Medical Center

Location: Morristown, NJ Shift: 3 PM – 11 PM Department: Operating Room Employer: Atlantic Health System

Base pay range: $48.00/hr – $84.50/hr

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary team. Administrative oversight of the department.
  • Provide direct care and function. Troubleshoot independently and proactively seeking assistance. Facilitate resolutions to complex patient or family situations.
  • Act as advocate to patients, using escalating medical notification when needed.
  • Maintain a safe environment of care in compliance with regulatory bodies such as The Joint Commission.
  • Collaborate with Director/Manager on day‑to‑day operational and strategic needs, anticipating staff efficiency according to volume variations.
  • Interface and assist in maintaining collaborative relationships and open communication between physicians, team members, management, and administration.
  • Assist with unit fiscal management, ensuring budget monitoring processes, controlling expenses, enhancing revenues, and ordering supplies.
  • Participate in performance improvement, identifying processes needing change and implementing unit‑based improvement programs.
  • Monitor, guide, support and direct staff to achieve unit and organizational goals, including hospital‑associated conditions and patient experience.
  • Assist in annual performance appraisals of unit personnel, providing recommendations on hiring, termination, promotions, counseling and documentation.
  • Participate in development and recruitment of team members, meeting regulatory, licensure and competency requirements.
  • Collaborate with the shared governance council and nurse educator/clinical specialist in meeting unit educational needs, serving as mentor/preceptor.
  • Facilitate patient admissions and transfers, maintaining a pleasant work atmosphere focused on teamwork.
  • Maintain a safe environment by adhering to OSHA, Joint Commission, Board of Health and hospital standards; maintain crash carts, omni‑cell systems, isolation precautions, hygiene protocols and equipment.
  • Respond to emergency situations promptly, following proper procedures and coordinating rapid response teams.
  • Promote customer service initiatives through personal example, timely problem solving, delegation and calm management.
  • Report changes, conduct monthly department meetings, communicate needs, perform peer review, and collaborate with physician and allied health colleagues.
Qualifications
  • BSN required.
  • BLS certification.
  • CNOR certification.
  • 3–5 years of experience in Operating Room and 2 years in a leadership role.
