At BD, we have been flying in support of our business for 75 years. As we continue in this great service, we re happy to say that we re looking for an additional Captain to fly our Falcon 7X. Captains at BD are responsible for the safe conduct of flights to which they are assigned. Captains report directly to the Chief Pilot.

The Captain holds ultimate responsibility for the safe operation of the aircraft. Captains must adhere to all federal, state, local, and international regulations, along with the policies and procedures outlined in the company operations manual. Captains serve as the company’s primary representative to the passengers and must conduct themselves with tact and decorum while maintaining an efficient and safe operation.

Responsibilities
  • Acting as pilot in command (PIC) of flights for which the pilot has been scheduled

  • Providing excellent customer service to passengers

  • Following schedules and other directives governing the aircraft’s operation

  • Ensuring that preflight inspections are performed

  • Studying weather conditions at destination, enroute, alternate airports, and departure points

  • Preparing flight plans

  • Ensuring that the aircraft is clean and prepared for flight with all provisions on board for the safety and comfort of the passengers

  • Reviewing and calculating the aircraft weight and balance, fuel on board, and performance charts

  • Managing the SIC (second in command) in all responsibilities needed to ensure the smooth, safe, and efficient operation of the aircraft

  • Coordinating the functioning of all crew members assigned to the flight

  • Managing and communicating with crew, and other team members, while maintaining the highest levels of integrity and CRM, in alignment with the BD Way

  • Ensuring that aircraft operations are in accordance with BD Aviation Flight Operations Manual and Standard Operating Procedures, including strict adherence to checklists by all crew members

  • Participating in the Safety Management System by crafting a flight risk analysis for all flight segments. Filing safety reports as needed and helping maintain a positive safety culture.

  • Monitoring crew performance, sharing knowledge with crew members, and evaluating crew member potential for advancement

  • Making decisions necessary to start, delay, or cancel flights and deviate the flight from planned route or destination when operating conditions dictate

Required Skills
  • Flight training received through an FAA-approved school or training program

  • Two (2) years of recent background as a pilot in Corporate Aviation

  • FAA Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) rating with appropriate aircraft and type ratings

  • FAA 1st class medical certificate

  • FCC Restricted Radiotelephone Operator Permit

  • Position is based out of Morristown, NJ, and the ideal candidate should be within approximately 1.5 hour driving distance of the base

Preferred Skills
  • At least two (2) years of college education; an Associate’s Degree or a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience is preferred

  • 5,000 hours of total flight experience including 3,000 hours serving as PIC, with 1,500 hours in turbine-powered aircraft is preferred.

  • Flight experience in Falcon 7X or 8X preferred

  • International flight experience preferred

Must be able to pass/provide the following
  • BD initiated check ride

  • Pre-employment drug test

  • Background check

  • FBI fingerprinting

  • Provide copy of all training certifications
