Responsibilities- Do a patient assessment on every study patient.
- Draw, process, and send samples to the central study lab per protocol.
- Perform venipuncture, arterial, and capillary punctures on patients of all ages and conditions.
- Identify and label specimens per protocol, including PK samples, urine pregnancy tests, COVID tests, and flu tests.
- Execute protocol procedures such as EKGs, Holter monitor, spirometry, and breathing tests.
- Enter electronic medical record data and complete study protocol paperwork and request forms.
- Clean and sterilize equipment and work area following safety, cleanliness, and infection control procedures.
- Inventory lab supplies and other supplies; place orders as needed.
- Maintain drug accountability record sheets and input accountability data into EMR systems; be willing to learn study‑specific EMR systems (e.g., Int Elligo, Medidata, Inform).
- Maintain patient confidentiality.
- Oversee and complete all trial paperwork, ensuring timely completion.
- Complete individual trial education and keep Clinical Trial Training up to date – GCP, Ethics and Human Protection training, ICH, Informed Consent, Quality Assurance, Participant Safety, Adverse Events, and specific trial education.
- Ensure compliance with all government, state, and IRB regulations and standards.
- Adhere to all ICH/GCP guidelines.
- Assist the study manager/coordinator in entering data into the study EMR system, Elligo, and the central lab.
- Collect flu, strep, and COVID swabs per protocol and use appropriate protective safety attire.
- Attend in person regularly and punctually.
- State certification as an LPN.
- Completion of GCP, human subjects, Elligo, IRB, and specific protocol training.
- LPN and CPR certifications.
- Current competencies in phlebotomy techniques.
- Knowledge of clinic protocols and policies.
- Good computer skills.
- Ability to recruit research participants.
- Maintenance of quality standards to ensure data integrity.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Skill in customer service and a pleasant, courteous demeanor.
- Ability to remain calm and effective in stressful or emergency situations.
- Cooperative teamwork as part of office staff.
- Standing for six to eight hours per day, walking, bending, and reaching.
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds of supplies and equipment.
- Tolerance for occasional stress when managing priorities and anxious patients.
- LPN certification.
- CPR certification.
