Base Pay Range

$17.50/hr - $21.00/hr

Responsibilities
  • Assist the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in the practice of pharmacy and in the performance of other Pharmacy Department duties in accordance with Company policies and procedures.
  • Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.
  • Assist with and coach pharmacy technicians and cashiers in the operation of pharmacy systems and cash registers, if PTCB certified.
  • Model and deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience.
  • Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services, resolving customer issues and answering questions to ensure a positive customer experience.
  • Model and share customer service best practices with all team members, including interpersonal habits (e.g., greeting, eye contact, courtesy) and Walgreens service traits (e.g., offering help proactively, identifying needs, servicing until satisfied).
  • Develop strong relationships with key customers.
  • Assist in the practice of pharmacy, comply with the Walgreen Co. Pharmacy Code of Conduct, and assist pharmacists in scheduling and maintaining workflow.
  • Perform duties as assigned by Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist, and Store Manager, including entering patient and drug information, filling prescriptions, verifying medicine, checking for interactions, and maintaining accuracy.
  • Report prescription errors immediately to the pharmacist on duty and adhere to Company policies regarding pharmacy errors and the Quality Improvement Program.
  • Comply with the Walgreen Co. policy regarding Good Faith Dispensing during all applicable prescription dispensing activities.
  • Register all related sales on the assigned cash register, handle cash, and assist customers to the OTC aisle when possible.
  • Handle telephone calls that do not require the personal attention of the pharmacist, including those to physicians.
  • Process, correct and resubmit manual claims for third‑party program prescription services efficiently, perform other clerical duties as assigned.
  • Assist in inventory management activities such as ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing pharmaceutical shipments; file claims for warehouse overages or shortages.
  • Assist in administering clinical services, including collection and labeling of blood/urine samples, and coordinate with Walgreens health‑care clinics and external providers.
  • Help develop and maintain good relationships with the local medical community, providing provider detailing and outreach.
  • Assist with exterior and interior maintenance to keep the Pharmacy Department stocked and orderly.
  • Comply with all company policies, maintain respectful relationships with coworkers.
  • Complete special assignments and other tasks as assigned.
Training & Personal Development
  • Earn and maintain PTCB certification through the designated PTCB training program or state‑required certification/registration; for promotion to senior technician, earn PTCB certification as a condition.
  • Attend training, complete PPLs requested by Manager, and acquire continuing education credits to maintain knowledge and skill in healthcare and pharmacy, including latest news and developments.
Basic Qualifications
  • Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English. (Except in Puerto Rico)
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prefer six months of experience in a retail environment.
  • Prefer prior work experience with Walgreens.
  • Prefer good math skills for accurate prescription filling.
  • Prefer good computer skills.
  • Prefer knowledge of store inventory control.
  • Prefer PTCB certification.
