Position: Registered Nurse, Full Time Days, Corporate/Occupational Health, Morristown Medical Center

Overview

Atlantic Health System is seeking a Registered Nurse for ambulatory/occupational health settings. The role includes patient assessment, clinical skill application, documentation, safety, and collaboration with the healthcare team. The candidate will ensure compliance with applicable laws, standards, and organizational policies.

Responsibilities
  • Patient assessment:
    Perform systematic, comprehensive, and accurate assessments. Monitor effects of medications and treatments and report adverse effects in a timely manner. Provide appropriate intervention, reassessment, and documentation.
  • Clinical skills:
    Demonstrate competent clinical skills, analyze situations critically, maintain complete and accurate documentation, evaluate intervention effectiveness, and revise the plan of care as needed. Follow standing orders from the ACH Medical Director.
  • Communication:
    Communicate clearly and effectively with all members of the healthcare team. Complete hand-off communication and provide complete reports to other caregivers.
  • Critical thinking and time management:
    Demonstrate critical thinking and time management skills necessary for effective patient care. Assume responsibility and accountability for all work assignments. Utilize approved clinical communication tools (AH email) in accordance with organizational standards.
  • Documentation and compliance:
    Maintain clinical documentation, adhere to safety protocols, and support patient education and advocacy. Follow HIPAA, OSHA, Joint Commission standards, NJ BON standards, ANA Code of Ethics & Scope of Standards and Practice, and hospital standards. Support client in ensuring compliance with State Nurse Practice Act, FMLA, ADA, STD/LTD, EPA, and HIPAA as required.
  • Emergency response:
    Respond to on-site emergencies. Implement emergency first aid care and crisis management for job-related injuries/illnesses and non-work-related illnesses.
  • Injury review:
    Review all on-the-job injuries/illnesses with the employee, client contact, and, where applicable, the client disability management team to address potential future injuries.
  • Physician referrals:
    Provide appropriate physician referrals for personal illnesses and injuries, considering the employee’s home address and culture.
  • Communication and computer skills:
    Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Proficient in using a computer (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Confidentiality and ethics:
    Maintain patient, team member, and employer confidentiality. Comply with all HIPAA regulations.
  • Decision making:
    Make critical decisions while following CMC/COHC policies and procedures.
  • Personal attributes:
    Detail-oriented, flexible, positive, able to work in a team, and capable of performing under pressure.
  • Language:
    Spanish-speaking preferred.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program.
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse.
  • BLS certification.
  • Minimum of 3 years of nursing experience; prior EMR experience preferred.
  • Prior experience in ambulatory care, occupational medicine, or emergency room nursing.
  • Prior experience with federal and state regulatory authorities (e.g., OSHA, PEOSH).
Preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing.
  • All ASN nurses should complete BSN within five years of start date.
  • ABOHN COHN/COHN-S, CCMC or similar certification (preferred).
  • DOT Drug Screen Collector Certification (preferred).
  • Breath Alcohol Technician Certification (preferred).
  • NIOSH-approved spirometry training (preferred).
  • Occupational Hearing Conservationist certification (preferred).
