Join Copley Hospital as an Athletic Trainer in our Waterbury location with some staffing at Morrisville.
OverviewCopley Hospital, located in Morrisville / Stowe VT, is in search of an Athletic Trainer to work directly with Surgeons, Clinic Practitioners, Physician Assistants, and Nurse Practitioners at Mansfield Orthopaedics in our Waterbury location (with some staffing at the Morrisville location as needed). This AT coordinates the flow of office patients to providers and provides general support services to physicians and mid-level providers.
Troubleshoots patient problems and collaborates with practice staff and other Copley managers or staff as needed. Assists with patient education regarding peri-operative/post-operative issues. Becomes familiar with all clinic appropriate appliances. Keeps a strong focus on overall patient satisfaction.
Full-Time position (PT available). Copley Hospital has various shifts available across Full-Time, Part-Time, and Per Diem needs. Mansfield Orthopaedics has locations in Waterbury and Morrisville. Please consider applying to discuss how your availability may align.
CompensationNegotiable. An offer of employment may vary based on factors such as experience, education, skill, internal equity, and market data. External candidates, who have not worked for Copley Hospital in the past year, are eligible for a hiring bonus based on experience – bonuses for full-time new hires up to $2,000

- Act as a physician extender, performing both clinical and administrative tasks under the guidance of the attending physician.
- Possess superior knowledge of EMR to schedule appointments as needed and maximize patient access.
- Master all essential functions of the Medical Assistant Tier II job description and possess in-depth knowledge of the sub-specialty for the surgeons of the practice.
- Assist with Patient Navigation during a patient’s episode of surgical care.
- Troubleshoot patient concerns and collaborate with practice staff and other Copley Managers or staff as needed.
- Assist with patient education regarding preoperative and post-operative issues.
- Apply experience with DME products and their application and casting specific to the surgeons.
- Work collaboratively with Medical Assistants, RNs and Providers in procedures appropriate for the clinic, and provide associated documentation and educational materials to patient when requested.
- Communicate in a clear and effective manner with all team members and determine appropriate communication channels for coordinating patient needs.
- Work with other staff to ensure adequate stock of appropriate supplies. Follow hospital policy regarding outside vendors and salespeople for new product consideration and in-services.
- May perform appropriate and safe clinical patient treatment including all necessary modalities and therapeutic activities as indicated by patient status.
- Bachelor of Science, Athletic Training program accredited by CAAHEP or its successor organization.
- Experience in a multi-disciplinary Rehabilitation setting.
- Experience in orthopedic clinic setting, including managing schedules and working directly with Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Physicians.
- Vermont License as an Athletic Trainer. N.A.T.A. National Certification. Certification with BOC.
- Ability to practice independently and as part of the Rehabilitation team, in both the clinic and traditional settings.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills in the health care and education environments for athletes of all ages, individually and in teams.
- Develop, coordinate, and implement prevention and conditioning programs in the community in accordance with organizational guidelines.
- Ability to multi-task in the clinic setting to assist in coordination of clinic services. Computer-based clinical documentation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to understand and follow regulatory and compliance standards for all patient care services, including documentation and billing.
