Our client is seeking to add a Senior Property Accountant to their Real Estate Accounting and Finance Team. This position is responsible for overseeing the monthly close process for a portfolio of commercial properties, managing CAM reconciliations, and supervising one Staff Accountant. The ideal candidate will have strong property accounting experience, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the month-end close process, including journal entries, accruals, and financial statement preparation.
- Oversee the preparation and review of annual CAM reconciliations and tenant billings.
- Review account reconciliations and investigate variances to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Manage and mentor one Staff Accountant, providing guidance on daily accounting activities and professional development.
- Maintain the general ledger and ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
- Support budgeting, audits, and year-end reporting requirements.
- Partner with property management and operations teams to resolve accounting and tenant-related issues.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- 4+ years of property accounting experience within commercial real estate.
- Strong knowledge of CAM reconciliations, month-end close, and financial reporting.
- Experience supervising or mentoring staff preferred.
- Proficiency with Yardi, MRI, or similar property management/accounting systems.
