Wake Technical Community College seeks nominations and applications for the position of Provost, Information Technology, Business Programs, and Research Triangle Park Campus. The Provost will report directly to the Executive Vice President for Programs and lead the following disciplines: network management, computer programming, cybersecurity, business administration, accounting, education, and culinary arts. The Provost will also serve as the official spokesperson and liaison for the RTP campus.
The RTP Campus is a next‑generation learning environment dedicated to individuals and corporations in western Wake County and Research Triangle Park. It offers associate degrees for university transfer and a robust array of applied‑science degrees in Information Technology and Biotechnology, as well as short‑term non‑degree courses for workforce licensure and certification.
Responsibilities- Oversees academic program vitality, new course and program development, enrollment management, delivery modalities, and staffing needs of assigned academic divisions
- Provides leadership in developing, implementing, and maintaining degree and non‑degree programs that respond to community needs, prepare students for success, and meet the external requirements of all applicable accrediting/certifying bodies
- Ensures a clear path and process for student success through non‑credit and credit programs, inclusive of industry‑standard certifications and other prior learning assessments
- Recruits, hires, supervises, and evaluates the performance of DEAN(s) and campus operations support staff in service of the assigned academic division and campus
- Leads area implementation of the college’s strategic plan and institutional effectiveness efforts
- Allocates new and existing resources in support of the college’s strategic goals
- Maintains a climate that encourages the development and retention of competent personnel, a high level of morale, and the pursuit of excellence
- Manages budget allotments and seeks additional funding opportunities to support academic programming and instruction
- Assures the effective operation of integrated college and campus services that include curriculum degree education, workforce continuing education, customized training, student services, early college high school, business operations, information technology services, college police department, facilities, and campus events
- Participates in the development and execution of strategic multi‑site planning
- Participates in planning, design, and occupancy of new campus buildings and parking facilities
- Represents Information Technology, Business and Professional Services, and Wake Tech and the RTP Campus internally and externally as the official spokesperson and point of contact when appropriate
- Oversees space allocation for campus constituents based upon usage data and need
- Facilitates communication and collaboration across division, campus, and college functions to avert organizational silos
- Maintains effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students, colleagues, community leaders, and other institutions of higher learning
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Progressive leadership/management experience at a multi‑campus or large community college
- Proven ability to create an organizational culture that is responsive to student needs
- Fluency with data and analytics to identify leading indicators of student success
- Comprehensive knowledge of current student development theory
- Demonstrated knowledge of career and technical education and workforce continuing education and their roles in upward economic mobility
- Ability to manage a large, complex campus, as well as lead organizational change
- Ability to work effectively with key campus personnel through local, auxiliary supervision without formal chain of command
- Excellent diplomatic, negotiation, and collaboration skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking
- Master's degree in an area relevant to Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field
- Seven years of demonstrated administrative and managerial experience in higher education or a relevant industry
- OR
- Bachelor's degree in an area relevant to Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field
- Ten years of demonstrated progressive administrative and managerial experience in higher education or a relevant industry
