Controller Position Government

Salary: $165,000–$185,000

This Controller opportunity is with a well-established organization seeking an experienced accounting leader to oversee financial operations and partner closely with executive leadership.

• Lead accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, payroll, and accounts payable

• Manage and develop an established accounting and finance team
• Strong opportunity for a CPA with governmental or public-sector accounting experience

As the Controller, you will:

• Lead general accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, accounts payable, and payroll functions
• Oversee month-end and year-end close, reconciliations, financial statements, and internal controls
• Lead annual audit activities and preparation of the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR)
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, GASB, and applicable financial reporting requirements
• Partner with executive leadership on budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and strategic initiatives
• Lead, develop, and provide oversight to the accounting and finance team

Ideal candidates for this Controller role will have:

• Active CPA license required
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 8+ years of progressive accounting and financial management experience
• 3+ years of management or supervisory experience
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and GASB
• Experience preparing or overseeing an ACFR
• Governmental, public-sector, or similarly complex accounting experience strongly preferred
