The B&G Tech is responsible for safely maintaining, repairing, replacing, and modifying all buildings related processes. The incumbent may serve as the lead on projects or repairs requiring following contractors on their tasks. Assists the supervisor with the execution of daily activities and planning the works and tasks daily. This also includes training and monitoring the work of such employees to ensure work meets expectations.

Reports variances or shortfalls to supervisor/manager as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Effectively communicate with Technical Support, production personnel and other mechanics to identify problematic areas of concern; provide and receive feedback and/or support through collection and analysis of information.
  • Maintain all buildings and systems and perform basic mechanical tasks to keep equipment in optimal operational condition; B&G is expected to repair 100% of system without direction.
  • Perform minor electrical repairs and troubleshoot for the following:
    Lights and Power panels.
  • Assist in the procurement of parts and planning of repairs.
  • Read schematics, drawings, and manuals to establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Perform emergency repairs: install, fabricate, and modify PVC, Carbon steel and stainless-steel pipes and/or equipment using shop equipment such as welding and cutting machines.
  • Support facility maintenance equipment, including waste water equipment, compressed air, refrigeration, nitrogen and building safety equipment.
  • Must demonstrate an understanding of the company's objectives including productivity, yields, food safety, quality, customer service and cost goals; daily work activities should support achieving those goals.
  • Oversee or perform daily inspections, emergency repairs, routine adjustments and follow periodic preventive maintenance schedule.
  • Model professional workplace conduct and adherence to company policies such as the Code of Conduct, attendance, punctuality, efficient and productive work habits, and good personal hygiene.
  • Serve as a resource to others to resolve mechanical and/or people issues.
  • Occasionally be assigned to perform other tasks on a temporary basis with compliance to plant policies and without disciplinary action for productivity-throughout performance.
  • Support cross-training, new-hire/buddy assignments, and process support during breaks and staff coverage as needed.
  • Install, repair, replace, and perform preventative and corrective maintenance inspections on equipment and systems, including chilled water systems, hydraulics, wastewater, water distribution and filter systems, restrooms, plumbing and sewage systems, concrete and asphalt repairs.
  • Inspect daily all systems to determine if they are operating properly, especially restrooms and smoking rooms.
  • Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of tools and equipment applicable to the trade.
  • Respond to emergency calls, evaluate situations, and take corrective action.
  • Work overtime when emergencies arise to prevent disruption of the facility; maintain a high standard of safety, cleanliness, and efficiency.
  • Perform daily inspections, emergency repairs, and routine adjustments; follow periodic preventive maintenance schedule.
  • Participate on safety teams.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned.
  • Maintain a set of tools and equipment necessary to perform all tasks.
Required Qualifications /Skills
  • Proficient mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic skills and emergency repair skills; ability to identify and repair issues concerning water systems, sewage, concrete, asphalt, and plumbing.
  • Ability to use multi-meter and other measurement instruments as necessary.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English.
  • Ability to direct and lead the daily Maintenance activities during the shift.
  • Must work effectively in a team setting, and promote teamwork and cooperation.
  • Certified for operating a forklift.
  • Certified for operating a scissor lift or Genie boom.
  • Ability to analyze work requirements and plan accordingly.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs:
    Outlook, Word and Excel.
Experience
  • 3 years of experience with industrial and buildings and grounds activities.
Education/Training
  • Minimum of a High School diploma/GED, some Technical School coursework, or Mechanical Certification.
