Position Summary
The Department of Nuclear Engineering & Industrial Management at the University of Idaho – Idaho Falls Center for Higher Education invites applicants for a high profile, tenured faculty position at the Associate or Full Professor rank in all areas of nuclear science and engineering. Candidates should have a strong track record in research that includes contemporary and advanced nuclear fuel cycle analysis, artificial intelligence and machine learning, neutronics, core design, cybersecurity, integrated energy systems, operations, fuel recycling, spent fuel disposition, transport, and storage.
Qualifications- An earned doctorate in Nuclear Engineering, Nuclear Physics, Radiological Engineering, or Plasma Engineering.
- A record of research demonstrated by external funding, publications, professional society recognition, and impact on the profession.
- Experience with written and verbal communication.
- Experience with research and teaching in nuclear engineering and/or related fields in an academic environment consistent with an Associate or Full Professor appointment.
- Experience working with national laboratories or research consortia.
- Experience in a collaborative research environment.
- Principal investigator experience managing multiple grants.
- Sustained history of leading large–scale research teams.
- Eligibility to obtain a Joint Appointment with Idaho National Laboratory.
- Active membership(s) in professional organization(s).
- Ability to obtain a DOE security clearance.
- Ability to obtain a Professional Engineer (PE) license in Idaho within 5 years of hire.
- BS in Nuclear, Mechanical, Civil, or Environmental Engineering.
- Experience in mentoring junior professionals.
- Evidence of a high‑impact career.
- Demonstrated evidence of a strong national reputation.
