Coordinates the day-to-day operation of the Physics Educational Laboratories. Supports graduate teaching labs by guiding graduate teaching assistants (TAs) in effective instructional practices and techniques and ensures laboratory courses have adequate materials and content for instruction. Maintains the facilities, equipment and materials used for lecture demonstrations and laboratory experiments. Outside the academic year, duties could include undergraduate laboratory teaching during the summer session, laboratory exercise revision, preparation of course documents for upcoming academic year, inventory and equipment maintenance and other associated duties.
- Experience working with laboratory equipment
- Bachelor’s Degree in Physics, Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field
- None
- Masters degree or higher in Physics, Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field
- Experience in design and assembly of laboratory apparatus
- Experience in operating, troubleshooting and repairing laboratory equipment
- Experience managing personnel
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Must be able to lift, carry and/or otherwise move up to 50 lbs
