Financial Manager, CFO, Accounting Manager, Financial Reporting
Location Moscow, Off Campus Location - Possibly Hybrid Eligible
Position OverviewThis position serves as the University of Idaho’s chief accounting officer, providing strategic leadership and operational oversight for institutional financial management, reporting and compliance. This position ensures the accuracy and integrity of the university’s financial data, strengthens internal controls, and supports the institution’s fiscal sustainability in alignment with state, federal and Idaho State Board of Education requirements. This position directs and coordinates all accounting operations, including General Accounting, Payroll, Student Accounts and Accounts Payable, and works collaboratively across university divisions to ensure consistent, efficient and transparent financial processes.
Duties- Oversee the preparation of accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting
- Lead coordination of the annual external financial audit and ensure timely completion of the audited financial statements
- Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures and systems with consistency, transparency, and compliance
- Assist in the development of long‑term financial strategies, analysis and support activities related to bond finance
- Ensure financial data integrity across the Banner ERP system and other integrated financial applications
- Seven or more years of progressively responsible accounting or financial management experience, including supervisory responsibilities
- Comprehensive knowledge of GAAP, GASB and applicable federal and state regulations
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field
- Ability to travel
- Ability to work nonstandard extended hours with flexible schedule, which may include weekends and holidays
- Master’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field
- Experience in higher education, nonprofit or governmental accounting environments
- Demonstrated proficiency with Banner ERP or comparable enterprise financial systems
- Strong analytical, communication skills with a demonstrated record of professional conduct
- Expertise in public‑sector accounting and financial reporting
- Proven ability to interpret complex financial data and communicate with internal and external stakeholders
- Proven effectiveness in leading organizational change, building team capability, and promoting clarity and consistency in business processes
