Assistant Scientist role at Alturas Analytics, Inc.
We’re looking for a detail-oriented and collaborative Assistant Scientist to support our lab team. This role offers hands‑on experience preparing reagents, maintaining lab supplies, and assisting with sample tracking and routine lab operations. You’ll work closely with lab staff to help keep the lab running smoothly while gaining valuable training and experience to grow into future scientific roles.
Starting Pay$22.27/hour to start; after training $50,150 annual salary, DOE.
LocationThis position is on‑site in Moscow, Idaho.
Position SummaryThe Assistant Scientist provides support to other laboratory personnel through a variety of duties and tasks. This is an entry‑level position used to train all Associate Scientists.
Essential Duties and Tasks- Maintains all lab supplies (including purchase, receipt, stock, inventory, and disposal)
- Prepares various reagents and solutions for laboratory use
- Assists laboratory personnel to enable efficient laboratory operations
- Performs routine facility maintenance and inspections
- Cleans laboratory glassware
- Performs sample custodian duties including tracking, verifying and distribution of samples
- Performs QC review of data
- Performs other duties as needed or assigned
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree in a physical, biological or chemistry science required - Laboratory coursework required
- 1–3 years of work experience preferred
- Working knowledge of MS Office
- Verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to interpret procedures, regulations and guidelines
- Ability to enter data and work accurately with computers
- Sitting up to 1/3 of the time
- Working in front of a computer monitor up to 2/3 of the time
- Walking up to 1/3 of the time between departments/offices
- Standing up to 2/3 of the time
- Using hands to handle or feel up to 2/3 of the time
- Reaching with hands and arms up to 2/3 of the time
- Talking or hearing less than 1/3 of the time
- Climbing or balancing less than 1/3 of the time
- Stooping or kneeling less than 1/3 of the time
- Lifting up to 10 lbs. up to 2/3 of the time
- Lifting up to 25 lbs. less than 2/3 of the time
- Lifting up to 50 lbs. less than 2/3 of the time
- Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less) needed to read small labels
