Career Counselor

Overview

This position will advise and counsel law students on career planning, through individualized training, guidance and feedback. It also involves assisting students in developing skills necessary to obtain jobs, helping them build professional networks to advance career opportunities, and providing administrative assistance in managing programs of the Career Development Office, including job postings.

• Three years of relevant counseling experience (academic advising, career counseling, therapeutic or social work counseling, or attorney‑client counseling); a Juris Doctor may substitute two of the three years of experience
• Bachelor’s Degree
• Ability to travel
• Ability to work non‑standard work hours

• Ability to consistently exercise discretion and sound ethical judgment, particularly when dealing with confidential matters
• Knowledge of issues related to higher education administration
• Knowledge of career development issues, particularly those faced by attorneys and aspiring attorneys
• Knowledge of legal employment trends and career development
