The Role
Our Spring/Summer Co-op Program runs from January 18, 2027 through June 25, 2027. All applicants must be available for the full duration of the program.
The Bioanalytical and Molecular Assay team is seeking a motivated co-op student to support laboratory-based bioanalytical LC-MS/MS activities for clinical programs.
This role will provide hands-on experience in sample preparation, LC-MS/MS analysis, data processing, method development support, and regulated laboratory documentation. The co-op will work closely with experienced scientists and research associates on assays involving lipids, biomarkers, proteins, peptides, and other biological analytes.
Here's What You'll Do
- Support LC-MS/MS method development, optimization, and sample analysis under the guidance of experienced scientists.
- Perform sample preparation from biological matrices using techniques such as protein precipitation, SPE, LLE, enzymatic digestion, and related workflows.
- Prepare calibration standards, quality controls, reagents, buffers, and study samples.
- Assist with LC-MS/MS instrument setup, sample loading, sequence preparation, and routine laboratory activities.
- Process and review analytical data using software such as SCIEX platforms and Thermo Scientific Xcalibur.
- Support sample tracking, run management, and study documentation using Watson LIMS, ELN, and other laboratory systems.
- Maintain accurate and complete experimental records in accordance with established procedures and SOPs.
- Assist with evaluation of assay performance, including calibration curves, QCs, accuracy, precision, and other relevant parameters.
- Support basic troubleshooting of sample preparation, chromatography, instrumentation, and data-processing issues under supervision.
- Assist with laboratory organization, reagent and consumable management, and routine instrument maintenance activities.
- Participate in team discussions and communicate experimental observations and results.
- Follow applicable laboratory safety, GLP/GCP principles, SOPs, and data-integrity practices.
Here's What You'll Need (Minimum Qualifications)
- Currently pursuing a BS or MS degree in chemistry, biochemistry, pharmaceutical sciences, analytical chemistry, biotechnology, or a related scientific discipline.
- Interest in bioanalytical chemistry, mass spectrometry, and pharmaceutical or biotechnology research.
- Prior laboratory experience through coursework, academic research, internship, or co-op experience.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and willingness to learn.
- Ability to follow written procedures and work effectively in a collaborative laboratory environment.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Here's What You'll Bring to the Table (Preferred Qualifications)
- Experience with biological sample preparation.
- Familiarity with LC-MS/MS software such as SCIEX software or Thermo Scientific Xcalibur
- Familiarity with Watson LIMS, ELN, or other laboratory data systems.
- Basic understanding of chromatography, mass spectrometry, or quantitative analytical techniques.
