Research Scientist, Immunology Research, Postdoctoral Research Fellow
The postdoctoral fellow will work in the lab of Esteban Vargas and Tanya Miura to understand host immune responses during respiratory viral infection, with a focus on influenza virus infection and coinfections with other viruses. This hire will use cell culture experiments and mouse models of influenza infection and coinfection, together with immunological and virological assays — including flow cytometry and cytokine/chemokine profiling — to pursue these goals.
This position will require leading the project with support from research staff and graduate students.
- Experience with virology and/or infectious disease research techniques (e.g., viral infection models, viral titering, in vitro experiments, immunological techniques)
- Basic computational experience (e.g., R, excel)
- Experience with oral and written presentations of experimental results
- Ph.D. in Immunology, Microbiology, Virology, or a related biomedical field
- None
- Experience with in vivo animal models, including handling, dosing, and monitoring of mice
- Experience with influenza virus and/or coinfection models specifically
- Experience with flow cytometry
- Experience with cytokine/chemokine assays (e.g., ELISA , multiplex bead arrays)
- Experience working in Biosafety Level 2 laboratory
- Experience in computational data analysis, e.g., UNIX
-based systems, R, Python, or similar tools for data processing and scripting
