General Purpose

The Area Supervisor is a member of the Store Leadership responsible for a specific assigned area of the Store and for general operations when acting as Manager on Duty. Responsibilities include opening and closing the store, supervising associates, maintaining a friendly and efficient environment, ensuring proper merchandise presentation, and enforcing company operational processes.

Essential Functions Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments
  • Understand that safety is the number one priority and practice safe behaviors.
  • Maintain a high level of awareness on the sales floor, correct or report unsafe conditions.
  • Secure the building, including entrance/exit control, EAS devices, Cash Office security, armored carrier pick‑ups, and register area.
  • Remove clutter and ensure clear egress to emergency exits.
  • Ensure customer safety including accident prevention, reporting, and emergency procedures.
  • Test all fire alarm systems as scheduled and respond to after‑hours alarms when requested.
Customer Service
  • Treat all customers, associates, and leaders with respect.
  • Demonstrate courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism at all times.
  • Recognize associates using company recognition programs.
Personal and Store Brand
  • Represent and support the company brand at all times.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and ensure associates adhere to the dress code.
  • Keep all areas of the store clean, well‑maintained, and merchandised to standard.
  • Responsible for daily trash removal.
General Merchandising
  • Ensure recovery, sizing, and markdowns are completed to company standards.
  • Responsible for receiving merchandise trucks when needed.
  • Process all merchandise with a sense of urgency.
  • Responsible for receipt of all non‑merchandise inbound deliveries.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of all stockrooms.
  • Help deliver and place merchandise on the sales floor.
  • Ensure any back‑stock is secured and processed to policy.
  • Merchandise the department including back stock.
  • Reduce loss due to damage.
  • Ensure compliance with monthly presentation guidelines.
  • Conduct floor moves and signing, including promotional signing as needed.
  • Perform re‑wraps as needed.
Loss Prevention
  • Understand and comply with the Loss Prevention Awareness Program.
  • Maintain a large customer‑service presence on the sales floor.
  • Safeguard confidential information, cash and credit card information, and merchandise.
  • Maintain the Public View Monitor (PVM) system.
  • Conduct “Code 50” package inspections.
  • Execute company best practices to maximize productivity.
Front End Supervision and Operations
  • Administer company best practices and minimize steps and extra touches.
  • Maintain pace, energy, and presence at the front end.
  • Train and coach associates on cash registers, shortage control policies, and other front‑end procedures.
  • Control retail associates’ break schedule for backups, lunches, and breaks.
  • Ensure all equipment is working properly.
  • Maintain supplies and recovery for the front‑end area.
  • Ensure go‑backs are expedited, properly scanned, security tagged, and ticketed.
  • Teach all associates the “Scan and Bag” best practice.
  • Ensure salability of merchandise on the front end and in specialty racks.
Fitting Rooms
  • Maintain and clean fitting rooms.
  • Audit all fitting‑room garment tags per company policy.
  • Ensure go‑back compliance throughout the day.
Administrative Duties As Assigned By Store Manager
  • Conduct cash pulls and bank deposits per company policy.
  • Manage front‑end control, refund approval, associate purchase approval, and cash handling procedures.
  • Administer payroll, including daily punch edits, scheduling compliance, Sunday payroll transmission, and payroll reporting.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
