ADVANCED ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEER - Moses Lake Industries

Shift/Hours/

Location:

M-F, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, Onsite, Moses Lake, WA

What You Will Be Working On
  • Support definition, planning, and execution of assigned environmental project tasks.
  • Serve as a process subject matter expert (SME) departmentally for air, water, waste, and utility process systems.
  • Generate deliverables required for execution of environmental projects/initiatives including but not limited to environmental reviews, metrics, technical specifications, budgets for environmental control equipment, specifications and BACT assessments, emissions calculations, etc.
  • Process design & detail engineering including performing design calculations, process optimization, sizing & selection of equipment.
  • Process documents such as H&MB, process descriptions, P&’s, PFD’s, process specifications, equipment specifications, cause & effect diagrams, safe operating limits, shutdown philosophies, operational procedures, and functional narratives.
  • Work to incorporate safety, regulatory, and environmental requirements, and lean manufacturing principles into each project as it is defined and executed.
  • Lead all process safety reviews and requirements from an engineering perspective.
  • Identify risks and propose mitigation strategies to ensure timely completion of projects to agreed‑upon success criteria.
  • Develop comprehensive and robust test plans for equipment and systems including safety features, interlocks, cause and effect matrices, etc. Ensure test plans are reviewed with stakeholders and executed rigorously. Document and archive all testing records, findings, and lessons learned.
  • Perform necessary tasks and work hours needed to accomplish departmental and company goals.
  • Support air, water, and waste compliance activities including sampling, data analysis, and record keeping.
  • Support OSHA/WISHA mandated programs as well as PSM/RPM programs including LDAR program.
  • Perform environmental engineering/safety design and review of new production processes, hazardous waste management processes, wastewater treatment systems, and air pollution control systems.
  • Perform emission calculations and prepare regulatory reports/permits for local, state and federal agencies.
  • Support external ISO 14001 and 45001 audits.
  • Prepare goals, reports and presentations related to company environmental performance.
  • Collaborate frequently with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Conduct effective meetings, environmental reviews and presentations with stakeholders and customers.
  • Prepare weekly summary report of activities, projects, and priorities including needs and risks for achievement of objectives to established standards and timelines.
  • Uphold all MLI policies and “MLI Code of Conduct.”
  • Strict compliance with environmental and safety regulations.
  • Compliance and individual accountability with the MLI Quality System and ISO registration is required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support and sustain a high performing team.
Qualifications
  • A BS degree in Environmental or Chemical engineering or related field is a requirement.
  • Minimum of 3 years of industrial work experience in a related field.
  • Experience with environmental compliance regulations and standards.
  • Working knowledge of project management, including lean manufacturing principles.
  • Ability to apply statistical calculations (e.g., means, averages, ranges, standard deviations, control limits) and principles (e.g., graph generation, charts, pareto diagrams).
