SummaryThe Automation Engineer is responsible for maintaining all process Instrumentation and controls throughout the facility to ensure safe operating practices. The Automation Engineer provides technical direction and guidance to the instrumentation technicians. The individual in this position will be required to fully understand the purpose and operation of the equipment throughout the plant and have the ability to make decisions based on sound judgment when a situation dictates.
Candidates must be willing and able to work nights and weekends as needed.
Key Responsibilities- Assesses and aligns with key stakeholders the feasibility and soundness of proposed engineering evaluation tests, products, or equipment solutions.
- Leads/guides teams in establishing the appropriate designs, engineering and execution processes.
- Responsible for leading the communication of project updates to senior management and key stakeholders.
- Responsible for preparing and gaining alignment on engineering proposals, feasibility studies and vendor/construction packages.
- Oversees preventative/predictive maintenance on equipment throughout the facility
- Maintains Company standards for quality, food safety, sanitation and GMPs:
Works within safety rules and regulations in actively avoiding injury to self and others. - Ensures proper food safety sanitation and cleaning procedures of all processing equipment and tools.
- May assist Engineering and others in developing plans for instrumentation, automation systems for capital and other projects
- Assists with design and layout of automation systems.
- Troubleshoots and makes minor and major repairs of equipment, including automation systems, to prevent or minimize equipment downtime; identifies hazards, defects, or the need for adjustment or repair, and ensures compliance with codes.
Bachelor's Degree (B.A. or B.S.) from a 4-year college or university
Relevant Experience5+ years related experience and/or training
Other Information- Food processing background being an asset.
- Must have a thorough knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers and Control Systems.
- Preference to knowledge of Delta
V, Foundation Field Bus, ASi Bus, and Device Net, Factory Talk and other Rockwell Automation products. - Must possess well-developed computer skills.
- Must be able to read and understand PIDs, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Must be able to communicate verbally in a professional manner.

Wage range or rate of pay: $105,000 - $135,000 Plus annual incentive plan eligibility
