Behavioral Health Therapist
At Samaritan Healthcare we are dedicated to providing healthcare services to the community that we serve. The Behavioral Health Therapist will provide direct services including individual and group therapeutic services to patients, including assessments, treatment plans, and discharge planning.
Essential Functions- Demonstrates cultural competency and commitment to patients.
- Addresses referrals from providers.
- Participates in daily huddles to assess needs and coordinate services as needed.
- Provides therapeutic services to patients and their families.
- Works collaboratively with multidisciplinary team members including external partners.
- Participates in patient education and promotes patient wellness.
- Documents patient care in the proper format and in a timely manner.
- Familiarizes with the organization's structure, communications systems and billing process.
- Cooperates with physicians, providers, and staff to ensure optimal patient care.
- Participates in meetings and contributes to policy formation.
- Maintains all licenses and appropriate certifications current.
- Reviews the patient’s health record periodically with the physician.
- Keeps medical knowledge and skills current through regular CME activity.
- Engages in professional growth and development through seminars, workshops and professional affiliations.
- Ensures no injuries to self or others by following safe work practices and policies.
- Complies with organization policies, procedures, and labor agreements.
- Interfaces with team members and support groups in a courteous and efficient manner.
- Maintains a professional appearance and demeanor while representing the organization.
- Handles additional accountabilities as required by management.
The professional in this position reports to the Director of Operations – Primary Care. This position works closely with Samaritan Clinic professionals ensuring the provision of high quality, safe patient care.
Education & Experience- Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, or related field from an accredited university.
- Current Washington State Licensure: LCSW, LMHC, LICSW, or LMFT.
- Current HCP Level of BLS (Basic Life Support) within 30 days of hire.
- Minimum of one (1) year post‑licensure experience required; two (2) years preferred.
- Demonstrated skills in patient care, crisis and trauma management, and priority setting.
- Strong critical thinking, decision‑making, and ethical judgment.
- Excellent verbal communication and listening skills.
- Ability to provide excellent service to customers and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Experience with pediatrics and ability to care for patients across the age continuum.
- Proficiency in manual dexterity and ability to lift/carry up to 10 lbs.
- Frequent sitting with occasional standing, walking, lifting, reaching, kneeling, bending, stooping, pushing, and pulling.
- Manual dexterity and good reading eyesight.
- Verbal and written communication skills for accurate exchange of information with physicians, nurses, health care professionals, patients and/or families.
