Director, Environmental Services

Lead with compassion and operational excellence as the Director of Environmental Services at Samaritan Healthcare’s newest hospital, located in the heart of scenic Moses Lake, Washington.

The Position
  • The Director of Environmental Services will lead the development, launch, and day‑to‑day operations of the Environmental Services department in a newly built hospital.
  • Reporting to the Chief Human Resources Officer, this leader will oversee four direct reports and approximately 30 FTEs.
  • This leader will spearhead efforts to implement standardized operational workflows in the new hospital and provide staff training on processes and procedures. Additionally, they will evaluate the use of robotics and identify opportunities to enhance their integration and effectiveness across the facility.
  • Ideal candidates will be collaborative team players with a transparent communication style and a strong background in environmental services leadership. They should be open to feedback, skilled in coaching and mentoring staff, and able to foster a supportive team culture. This role requires a highly energized, organized leader with a strategic mindset. Union experience is preferred.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s required;
    Masters preferred.
  • A minimum of two years of leadership experience, along with five to seven years of experience in environmental services, is required.
  • Certified Healthcare Environmental Services Professional (CHESP) preferred or Certified Healthcare Facility Manager (CHFM) preferred.
Compensation Range
  • The base salary range for this position is $93,000 to $123,000 annually. In addition, a leader may be eligible for other benefits, including but not limited to health insurance coverage, retirement benefits, and bonuses. The total compensation for the finalist selected for this role will be determined based on various factors, including but not limited to scope of role, level of experience, education, accomplishments, internal equity, budget, and subject to Fair Market Value evaluation.

    The base salary range listed above is a good faith determination of potential base compensation at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future.

  • Known as the Desert Oasis, Moses Lake and the surrounding area of Grant County is located in the heart of the Columbia Basin in Central Washington. With a Service Area Population of 54,000 people, livable is best way to describe the community.
  • Fishing, water skiing, canoeing, and kayaking are some of the activities available without leaving the city limits. Moses Lake also has a large community Aquatic Center. Other recreational activities in the area include biking, ice‑skating, hunting, and snow skiing.
  • Moderate four‑season climate weather pattern with average minimum December temperatures of 23 degrees and average summer maximum of 87 degrees and 300 plus days of sunshine makes for comfortable living.
