Summary

The focus of this job will be to meet shift goals defined by specific budgets while making sure the packaging of finished products is in accord with the production schedule and customer specifications/expectations and quality guidelines.

This position is also responsible for coordinating the packaging team in accomplishing the following: sizing (grading) the packaged product, monitoring weight control of containers, examining case conditions, ensuring sanitation standards are met, palletizing, and compiling documentation needed for accurate record keeping. The individual in this position will provide assistance to the shift management and packaging teams in the search for continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Typical Education

High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

  • Strong leadership skills, positive work relationships, and effective coaching are key ingredients to the success of the Packaging Area Coordinator and Packaging area team.
  • Must be qualified in each of the following areas:
    Packaging Area Operator, Cold Room Operator, and Lift Truck Operator and perform the job duties.
  • Ensures necessary level of communication is maintained with the appropriate personnel.
  • This position is a member of a team that are assigned to key functional areas including Raw Receiving, Fry Process, and Quality Assurance.
Other Information
  • Must become qualified within 45 working days of employment in this position.
  • This position will be responsible for covering/breaking the previously mentioned operator vacancies on shift.
  • Ensures a working knowledge of equipment in the processing, packaging, and quality assurance areas.
  • Utilizes computer to communicate, document, and ensure accurate information is entered and used correctly in the Manufacturing Management System (MMS), Data Collection System (DCS), and other computer programs - understanding of how to use the information to make informed decisions and that they are completed in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Ensures that team meetings are meaningful in content and allow employees to express themselves on pertinent problems relating to their jobs.
  • Demonstrates the ability to effectively train all packaging department operators.
  • Maintains Company standards for safety, quality, food safety, sanitation and GMPs.
  • Works within safety rules and regulations in actively avoiding injury to self and others.
  • Ensures proper food safety sanitation and cleaning procedures of all packaging equipment and tools.
  • Ensures self-compliance with Company policies and plant procedures, and the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • Maintains necessary level of communication with team members and other support groups and does so in a participative management style conducive with operational goals.
