Maintenance Mechanic - Moses Lake Production Campus

Summary

The Mechanic works independently and with other plant personnel to perform preventative, predictive and routine maintenance tasks. This role includes troubleshooting issues, repairing failures of production and facilities equipment, and ensuring maximum equipment efficiency and effectiveness. This person provides direction for effective execution of maintenance activity on all machinery and equipment throughout the plant and office facilities. The Maintenance Mechanic is also responsible for the optimum utilization of available resources such as manpower, equipment, time, etc.

This person must be responsible for decisions, actions and failures; must establish clear responsibilities and processes for monitoring work and measuring results. In addition, the maintenance mechanic must partner with others to get work done and work cooperatively with others across the organization to achieve shared objectives.

There are two plant facilities that make up the Moses Lake Production Campus. The selected candidate for this role will begin their training at one of these facilities and then will be assigned to one of the two locations after training is complete.

• Ensures alertness and constant awareness of the safe operation of moving equipment and other potential safety hazards in a production plant.
• Ensures necessary level of communication is maintained with the appropriate personnel.
• Ensures the efficient operation of all equipment on the premises by using preventative maintenance and troubleshooting techniques.
• Ensures all equipment overhauls, repairs, installations or modifications are completed in a timely manner and comply with industry standards and codes as related to safety and quality.

High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

3+ years related experience and/or training

• Must be able to work any shift nights/weekend/weekend holidays
• Must have a minimum of 6 months industrial factory mechanical maintenance and troubleshooting experience or equivalent education as approved by the Maintenance Supervisor and Department Manager.
• Must have successfully completed mechanical evaluation exam.
• Must be able to work in confined areas.
• Must be able to complete training on fall protection and must meet and maintain fall restraint requirements. This training and requirements are in accordance with WAC  through 24525 and WAC 296-24-75005.
• Must receive acceptance to the J.R. Simplot Co. (Moses Lake Plant) - Industrial Maintenance Mechanic Apprenticeship Program one year post hire date.
• Utilizes computer and computer programs to communicate, document, and track shift information and ensures that all documents and reports are completed accurately in a timely and efficient manner.
• Ensures attendance and participation in training activities appropriate to the position and to incorporate acquired skills and knowledge.
• May assist in training other personnel.
• Maintains Company standards for safety, quality, food safety, sanitation and GMPs.
• Works within safety rules and regulations in actively avoiding injury to self and others.
• Ensures proper food safety sanitation and cleaning procedures of all process and packaging equipment and systems.
• Ensures self-compliance with Company policies and plant procedures, and the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
• Maintains necessary level of communication with team members and other support groups and does so in a participative management style conducive with operational goals.
• Ensures that additional accountabilities required by management are handled in a manner necessary to meet operational standards.
