Job Responsibilities
  • Sell industrial, medical and specialty gases, welding equipment, power and hand tools, paint and other supplies to customers.
  • Advise customers on tools, hardware, and materials needed, and procedures to follow to complete tasks.
  • Assist the branch with customer deliveries using company vehicles as required.
  • Adhere to company policies including safety and use of personal protective equipment.
  • Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers.
  • Ensure all required paperwork is accurately completed, including coding, costing, and pricing.
  • Process orders in the SAP system, including cash and charge orders; assist with reconciliation of cash and bank deposits.
  • Communicate by phone, e‑mail and in person with customers, sales staff, store managers and others regarding cost, ordering and delivery times.
  • Develop outgoing call strategy to support sales growth for the branch.
  • Coordinate transfer of merchandise requested by customers to and from other locations.
  • Answer customer questions concerning locations, prices and use of merchandise.
  • Process total price and tax on merchandise purchased by customers using computer, calculator and/or paper and pencil to prepare an invoice; accept payment and make change; wrap or bag merchandise for customers and assist in loading and unloading cylinders outside the storeroom.
  • Arrange with customers for delivery of cylinder and/or hard goods requested.
  • Maintain neat, clean and professional personal appearance following the region's dress code policy.
  • Coordinate with the purchasing department for any product shortages or outages.
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by building relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Stock showroom shelves with merchandise; maintain showroom displays; keep warehouses stocked, clean and organized.
  • Perform any reasonable work request that falls within the qualifications but is not specifically described.
Required Qualifications
  • Must operate in a drug‑free workplace.
Preferred Qualifications
  • High school degree or equivalent experience and education.
  • At least one year of knowledge and experience of arc and gas welding with at least two years industry experience.
  • Ability to handle cash transactions accurately.
  • Excellent communication skills by phone, email or in person with customers, sales staff, Branch Manager and other branch personnel.
  • Ability to read and comprehend safety data sheets.
  • Proficient operation of forklift (or ability to be trained) and maintain appropriate forklift certifications.
