Working with minimal supervision, the Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager in all facets of store operations, promotes a sales culture, and delivers outstanding guest service.

• Provide best‑in‑class guest service, greet guests, respond to questions, recommend items, and use selling behaviors.
• Support the total shopping environment, including visual and operational elements and current sales initiatives.
• Process guest purchases and returns accurately using the POS system.
• Handle phone calls, answer and route calls, and resolve customer issues escalated to the Store Manager.
• Promote Game Stop’s guest benefits such as new title reservations, trade‑in, and Pro Rewards.
• Assist the Store Manager with setting service expectations, training associates, and addressing performance issues.
• Provide recognition and feedback to associates through Workday/HR systems.
• Ensure all associates complete onboarding, training, and compliance prior to shift opening or closing.
• Schedule associates, monitor staffing levels, and approve payroll and time off.
• Maintain store cleanliness, merchandising, and equipment in working order.
• Fulfill and ship Omni‑Channel orders daily.
• Apply inventory control and loss‑prevention practices and conduct bank deposits.
• Support sales, profit, and shrink goals and complete required administrative duties.
• Inventory counts, restock merchandise, and alphabetize on the sales floor.
• Reconcile daily transaction totals and ensure proper close‑out paperwork.
• Verify shipments, handle discrepancies, process defectives/recalls, and maintain records.
• Maintain guest and associate safety, report injuries, and address hazards.
• Supervise Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the Store Manager’s absence.
• Adhere to all Game Stop policies, procedures, and the Associate Handbook.

• Proof of identity and eligibility to work in the United States.
• Minimum age 18 years.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, merchandising, or related field preferred.
• At least 6 months of retail management experience preferred.
• At least 2 years of retail sales, guest service or management experience preferred.
• Video game knowledge preferred.

• Outgoing, welcoming personality and strong people skills.
• Excellent verbal, written, and listening skills; bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
• Ability to achieve objectives in a fast‑paced environment.
• Team player who works independently and fulfills tasks timely.
• Understand and meet associate performance expectations.
• Operate POS computer system.
• Basic mathematics, including currency; alphabetizing skills.
• Complete required paperwork correctly.
• Execute financial tasks per company policy.
• Work flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays; minimum 3 days/week availability.
• Adapt to pressure and solve problems creatively.
• Reliable, trustworthy, and use good judgment.
• Stand and move throughout store for up to 12 hours without assistance.
• Lift merchandise up to 30 lbs. and perform basic physical tasks.
• Understand military ranks if store is on a military base.

Pay: $19.88 - $23.88 per hour
