Geotechnical Engineer

About the Role

Our client is looking for a skilled Geotechnical Engineer to contribute to their diverse mining and infrastructure projects based in the Mossel Bay region. This role involves assessing ground conditions, designing stable foundations, slopes, and underground excavations, and ensuring the geotechnical integrity of project sites. You will play a critical role in risk assessment and mitigation related to soil and rock mechanics, providing essential expertise for safe and efficient project execution.

• Conduct site investigations, including soil and rock sampling and testing.
• Perform geotechnical analyses for foundations, slopes, tunnels, and earth structures.
• Develop design recommendations and specifications for geotechnical aspects of projects.
• Prepare comprehensive geotechnical reports, including risk assessments and mitigation strategies.
• Provide technical support during project construction, monitoring ground behavior.
• Collaborate with project managers, geologists, and other engineering disciplines.

• Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in geotechnical investigations and design.
• Proficiency in geotechnical software (e.g., Plaxis, Geo Studio, or similar).
• Strong knowledge of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and engineering geology.
• Experience with field testing and laboratory procedures for geotechnical materials.
• Excellent report writing and communication skills.
