About the Role

Our client, a leader in the automotive sector, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their innovative team in Mossel Bay . This position requires a deep understanding of automotive component design and development, with a focus on delivering high-performance, reliable, and cost-effective solutions. You will be responsible for leading design projects, mentoring junior engineers, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to bring new automotive technologies to market.

• Lead the mechanical design and development of automotive components and systems, from concept to production release.
• Utilize advanced CAD software for detailed 3D modeling, surfacing, and assembly design.
• Perform rigorous engineering analysis, including FEA, CFD, and tolerance stack-ups, to ensure design integrity and performance.
• Collaborate closely with manufacturing engineers to ensure designs are optimized for efficient and cost-effective production (DFM).
• Oversee prototyping, testing, and validation processes, analyzing results and implementing design revisions as needed.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers, providing technical expertise and fostering best practices in automotive mechanical design.

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in mechanical design, with a significant focus on the automotive industry .
• Expert proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., CATIA, Solid Works) and simulation tools.
• Strong understanding of automotive systems, materials, manufacturing processes, and quality standards.
• Demonstrated ability to lead design projects and solve complex engineering challenges.
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills are essential for this role in Mossel Bay .
