Plant Metallurgist - Mineral Processing

Our client is seeking an experienced Plant Metallurgist to oversee and optimize mineral processing operations at their facility near Mossel Bay, Western Cape . This role is central to maximizing metal recovery, improving process efficiency, and ensuring the quality of the final product. You will be responsible for troubleshooting plant issues, conducting process development studies, and implementing best practices in metallurgy.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of comminution, flotation, leaching, and refining processes relevant to the minerals industry, contributing to the plant's overall performance and profitability.

• Monitor and optimize metallurgical plant performance, focusing on recovery, grade, and operational costs.
• Conduct laboratory and pilot plant test work to evaluate new processes and improve existing ones.
• Troubleshoot operational issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions.
• Develop and manage process control strategies to ensure consistent product quality.
• Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to achieve plant objectives.

• Bachelor's degree in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in plant metallurgy, preferably in base metals or precious metals processing.
• Strong knowledge of mineral processing circuits, including crushing, grinding, flotation, and gravity separation.
• Experience with process simulation software and statistical analysis tools.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and practical plant experience.
