Substation Engineer - Power Distribution

Our client is seeking a skilled Substation Engineer specializing in power distribution to join their team in the coastal city of Mossel Bay. This role is integral to maintaining and upgrading the electrical infrastructure that powers our communities and industries, playing a vital part in the energy sector 's operational reliability. You will be responsible for the design, engineering, and implementation of substation projects, ensuring safety, efficiency, and adherence to the highest industry standards.

• Design and engineer substation layouts, including the specification of transformers, switch gear, busbars, and protection systems.
• Develop single-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, and physical layouts for substation projects.
• Ensure all designs comply with relevant national and international energy standards, codes, and safety regulations.
• Manage the technical aspects of substation construction, commissioning, and testing phases.
• Perform technical reviews of vendor designs and equipment submittals.
• Troubleshoot and provide technical support for existing substation assets.

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in substation design and engineering within the power distribution sector.
• Strong knowledge of substation components, protection relays, and control systems.
• Proficiency in CAD software and substation design tools.
• Experience with project management methodologies and site supervision is a plus.
