Mechanical Design Engineer - FMCG

Our client is seeking a dedicated Mechanical Design Engineer to join their fast-paced FMCG (Fast-Moving Consumer Goods ) sector team based in Mossel Bay . This role focuses on the design, development, and improvement of machinery and equipment essential for our manufacturing operations. You will work on projects ranging from new equipment installations to optimizing existing lines for increased efficiency and reduced downtime.

The ideal candidate has a strong grasp of mechanical principles applied to high-volume production environments and a commitment to innovation and continuous improvement within a key coastal industrial area.

• Design and develop mechanical components and systems for manufacturing equipment, ensuring reliability and efficiency.
• Conduct feasibility studies and create detailed design documentation, including CAD drawings and schematics.
• Collaborate with the production team to identify areas for improvement and implement engineering solutions.
• Specify materials, components, and consumables required for equipment design and maintenance.
• Manage external suppliers and contractors involved in equipment fabrication and installation.
• Ensure all designs comply with relevant safety regulations and industry standards.

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant technical qualification.
• Minimum 4 years of experience in mechanical design, preferably within the FMCG or manufacturing industry.
• Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Solid Works).
• Solid understanding of machine design principles, mechanisms, and automation.
• Experience with project management and budget control for small to medium-sized projects.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure in a production environment in Mossel Bay .
