Metallurgist - Processing

Our client is looking for a skilled and innovative Metallurgist to join their mineral processing team in Mossel Bay . This role is central to optimizing the recovery and quality of valuable minerals from extracted ore. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring processing circuits, conducting laboratory test work, and troubleshooting operational challenges to enhance efficiency and yield in the Western Cape facility.

This position requires a strong understanding of mineral processing techniques and a commitment to driving continuous improvement.

• Develop and optimize mineral processing flow sheets and operating parameters to maximize recovery and product quality.
• Conduct laboratory and pilot plant test work to evaluate new processing technologies and reagents.
• Monitor plant performance through regular sampling, chemical analysis, and data interpretation.
• Troubleshoot operational issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions to minimize downtime and losses.
• Prepare technical reports on process performance, research findings, and recommendations for plant improvements.
• Collaborate with operations and engineering teams to ensure safe and efficient plant operation.

• BSc or BEng degree in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in mineral processing operations, preferably in a plant-based role.
• Strong knowledge of comminution, flotation, leaching, and other relevant mineral processing techniques.
• Experience with analytical techniques and laboratory test procedures.
• Proficiency in data analysis and process simulation software is an advantage.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
