Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Systems Administrator to manage and maintain their critical IT infrastructure in Mossel Bay . This role is vital for ensuring the smooth operation, security, and efficiency of all server systems, networks, and related technologies. You will be responsible for system upgrades, troubleshooting complex issues, and implementing robust IT solutions to support business operations. This position offers a chance to take ownership of IT infrastructure in a key coastal location and contribute to a stable and reliable technological foundation for the company.
Key Responsibilities- Install, configure, and maintain server operating systems (Windows Server, Linux).
- Manage network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs.
- Implement and administer virtualization platforms such as VMware or Hyper-V.
- Perform regular system backups, disaster recovery planning, and testing.
- Monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimization strategies.
- Provide technical support for hardware, software, and network issues, resolving incidents promptly.
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and security policies to ensure data integrity and compliance.
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of experience in systems administration and network management.
- Proficiency in managing Windows Server and Linux environments.
- Experience with network protocols, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and firewalls.
- Hands-on experience with virtualization technologies.
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity best practices and implementing security measures.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
