Blockchain Data Scientist

Our client, a leading analytics firm specializing in the blockchain and cryptocurrency markets, is seeking an innovative Blockchain Data Scientist to join their growing team. This role is crucial for extracting meaningful insights from the vast amounts of data generated on blockchain networks. You will be responsible for developing sophisticated models, performing complex analyses, and uncovering trends related to tokenomics, transaction patterns, market sentiment, and network activity.

• Collect, clean, and process large datasets from various blockchain networks (e.g., Bitcoin, Ethereum, altcoins).
• Develop and implement machine learning models for predictive analysis, anomaly detection, and pattern recognition in blockchain data.
• Analyze on-chain and off-chain data to identify market trends, user behavior, and economic incentives within blockchain ecosystems.
• Create compelling data visualizations and reports to communicate complex findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Collaborate with quantitative researchers, traders, and product teams to inform strategy and decision-making.
• Design and conduct experiments to evaluate the impact of new protocols, features, or market events.
• Stay abreast of the latest research and advancements in data science, machine learning, and blockchain analytics.
• Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and security throughout the analysis process.
• Contribute to the development of proprietary analytical tools and methodologies.

• Master's or PhD in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, or a related quantitative field.
• Proven experience (4+ years) as a Data Scientist, with a significant portion focused on analyzing financial markets or blockchain data.
• Proficiency in Python or R, including libraries for data manipulation, analysis, and machine learning (e.g., Pandas, Num Py, Scikit-learn, Tensor Flow, PyTorch).
• Strong understanding of blockchain technology, cryptocurrencies, and the nuances of on-chain data.
• Experience with SQL and working with large databases.
• Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Matplotlib, Seaborn, Tableau).
• Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and presentation skills, essential for conveying insights from our Mossel Bay, Western Cape location.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
