Principal Cloud Solutions Architect

Our client, a leading enterprise solutions provider, is seeking a highly skilled and visionary Principal Cloud Solutions Architect to spearhead their cloud strategy and implementation in Mossel Bay, Western Cape . This executive-level position requires deep expertise in designing, developing, and deploying scalable, secure, and cost-effective cloud architectures across major cloud platforms. You will be instrumental in guiding technical direction, mentoring engineering teams, and engaging with stakeholders to translate business requirements into robust cloud solutions.

• Design and architect end-to-end cloud solutions on platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Develop and maintain cloud strategy, roadmaps, and best practices.
• Lead the technical design and implementation of complex cloud-native applications and migrations.
• Ensure cloud architectures are secure, highly available, scalable, and cost-optimized.
• Collaborate with engineering, operations, and business teams to align cloud solutions with strategic objectives.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to cloud engineers and architects.
• Evaluate and recommend new cloud technologies and services.
• Develop and enforce cloud governance policies and standards.
• Create detailed architectural documentation, diagrams, and presentations.
• Troubleshoot and resolve high-level architectural issues.

• Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent extensive experience.
• 10+ years of experience in designing and implementing enterprise-level IT solutions, with at least 5 years focused on cloud architecture.
• Deep expertise in at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, GCP) including core services (compute, storage, networking, databases, security).
• Proven experience with hybrid and multi-cloud strategies and implementations.
• Strong understanding of microservices architecture, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and serverless computing.
• Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform, Cloud Formation, ARM templates).
• Knowledge of security best practices in cloud environments.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with executive stakeholders.
• Relevant cloud architect certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional, Azure Solutions Architect Expert).
